September is looking like another excellent month of music making with some of my favorite musicians. It is a blessing to be able to play music from all ends of the jazz spectrum. This month, for me, exemplifies that idea. From Hat City Kitchen with my own bands, to OSPAC Jazz Festival with Oscar Perez' Jazz Explosion, to Music of Billie Holiday with Teri Roger in New Paltz, to the ever swinging Loston Harris Trio in Kentucky, and Josh Evans Big Band at Dizzy's, September will be a musical adventure. Looking forward to getting back out on the road with this incredibly talented vocalist and pianist. We had a blast in Detroit this summer. Please join us if you're in the area.
Loston Harris’ piano playing has often been described as percussive and incredibly fluid. He works hard to continue a legacy by blending traditional jazz, gospel and blues with his own unique stylings. With early musical inspirations ranging from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Carole King and other notable pop and R&B bands, it was jazz that ultimately chose Loston; for him jazz is hip, serious, complex, improvisational and limitless.
