Hat City Kitchen with Guest Artist John Hart

Wednesday July 8th, 2015. 8:00pm - 12:00pm

Hat City Kitchen 459 Valley St. City Of Orange, NJ

Last year the brilliant guitarist John Hart left New York after 30 years to accept a position as Professor of Guitar at the esteemed Miami University. John recorded with me on my Omnitone release "My Backyard" and we performed countless gigs together dating back to the 80's. His return to New York for a few weeks this summer allowed us to have a reunion at my weekly jam session. Also joining us is the phenomenal Vince Ector (we're going to be celebrating his recent BIG birthday) on drums and my cohort in Loston Harris Trio - Gianluca Renzi on Bass. This should be a great evening of music at a tremendous New Jersey Venue. Hat City Kitchen 459 Valley St, City of Orange, NJ 07050. We'll play a house-band set at 8:00 then the jam session will follow at 9:00.

Radam has been a fixture on the Norther Jersey/New York scene for decades. We'll be playing at the underground night spot in the village that you've got to see to believe. Drummer Earl Grice rounds out Radams trio for the evening.

Obviously I'm thrilled to being playing again with the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band. His spirit looms large over this great ensemble. Last time I worked with the band, I was subbing for Jimmy Heath, this time I'm looking forward to playing in the section with him. This is going to be a great week of music.

Loston Harris at Detroit Institute of the Arts

Friday July 31st, 2015. 7:00pm and 8:30pm

For more than a decade, Loston Harris has been the headliner at New York’s legendary Carlyse Hotel, which has a legacy of hosting jazz greats, including Bobby Short, Eartha Kitt and John Pizzarelli. Loston blends traditional jazz, gospel and blues with his own unique stylings. For the last two years I've been developing a rapport with this gracious singer and pianist while playing in his trio at Bemelman's Bar at the Carlyle Hotel. I'm looking forward to returning to Detroit!
