Please join us this Saturday, October 3rd for Hat City Kitchen’s new weekend jazz series. For the first program, we’ll be featuring some of my favorite musicians anywhere. Anyone who follows the current NYC jazz scene knows that Freddie is one of the great stars of trumpet whose virtuosity is equally at home in the bands
of Christian McBride, Oliver Lake, or anything in between. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Freddie throughout the last few years in the Big Bands of Oliver Lake and Josh Evans and in Michele Rosewoman’s New Yor-uba. But this is the first time we’ve shared the front line in a quintet format and I couldn’t be more excited. He’s a great musican, educator and friend of my family.
The rhythm section joining us is made up of three core members of North Jersey’s thriving jazz community. These gentlemen have played countless gigs with both Freddie and me, as we have played in their bands as well. This promises to be an evening of beautiful inspired musicianship by good friends with a deep musical connection. In addition to standard repertoire, we will be featuring original music by both Freddie and me. I hope you can make it out to hear this special evening.
